Tosha Schareina (Honda Team) has become the second rider to win the Baja Aragón on two different motorcycle brands. The Honda rider took victory for the second consecutive year in the Teruel rally. He was joined on the podium by Sherco Rally Factory Team riders Lorenzo Santolino and Rui Gonçalves, repeating last year's podium finish, a truly UNIRACING podium.
Tosha Schareina: “I felt very comfortable all day, and I was able to gradually gain ground. We struggled a lot on SS-2 because the ground was so broken up by the cars and trucks, but here we are, we've won for the second time, and I'm happy.”
In the women's category, Sara García (Yamaha), another UNIRACING rider, took first place, winning the Women's category ahead of Alona Ben-Natan and Sarah Khuraibet.
Javi Vega (Yamaha), for his part, finished in a creditable sixth place in the motorcycle standings, Guillem Aymerich (KTM 890R) 71st, Sergi Fernández (BMW R 1250 GS) 74th while Harith Noah (Sherco) had to retire. Debutant Andrea Scaramuzza (Yamaha T7) and UNIRACING ambassador suffered a fall without consequences although he was forced to retire in his first participation in the Baja Aragón 2023.
Incidentally, Nasser Al-Attiyah won the car category, repeating his result from the 2022 edition. This is Al-Attiyah's sixth victory in this Baja España Aragón. He was joined on the podium by Lucas Moraes (Toyota) in second place, 1'43'' behind, and Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Audi), who finished in a hypothetical third place, 9'17'' behind due to Audi competing out of category. Thus, the official third place went to Lithuanian Vaidotas Zala.
Nasser Al-Attiyah: “I'm very happy with this victory, my sixth here at the Baja Spain. It's incredible to have won; it was a record-breaking year, with Audi, Toyota, and Ford, and the best drivers in the world.” And the Qatari announced at the Baja that he will no longer race with Toyota: “This is my last race with Toyota. I want to thank my team for their work over the past six years and I'm very grateful for everything they've given me.”
